This is a stunning early George III secretaire made of solid mahogany. The drawers are fully oak lined with fine dovetails and with a lovely original secretaire drawer with small graduated drawers and pigeon holes (including secret compartment) with lovely original brass handles and with a fine example of Georgian marquetry inlay.
All of the drawers open and close smoothly and have original linings with solid oak bottom boards. Panelled and boarded backboards also of high quality. Attractive flared cornice with subtle dentil carving above hand carved blind fretwork banding. Original and substantial bracket feet. In good original condition indeed with minor scuffs, small dents, old repairs and wear consistent with age and very careful use. See photos for details.
Very well made, heavy and robust, completely usable and quite, quite stunning.
