When is the best time of year to start talking about a garden design?

The design and installation process can take several months depending on the complexity of the design and the availability of materials and plants. We book projects in our diary 3-4 months ahead so if you’d like your new garden ready for Summer, please get in touch well in advance.

How long does a garden take? What do you need to know to start?

The first draft of your garden design will usually be ready for you within four weeks. We will schedule a visit to your garden to take measurements for the scale plan and discuss your preferred style, how you use your garden, how much you like to do yourself, assess your soil type, the position relating to the sunny/shady areas and existing plants and trees.

How much does a garden design cost?

This will depend on the size of your project. Some garden designs might cover a part of your garden or estate or you may wish to discuss a design for your whole garden but how to stage the installation over a longer period of time. Every deign project is different.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

CONSULTATION

Firstly, let’s talk through what you have in mind, we’ll probably want to schedule a visit or Zoom call to talk through your ideas, budget and styles. We’ll then send you a quote for the design which will depend on the scale and complexity of the project. It’s also helpful to know at this stage if you have any special events planned in your garden or a deadline you’d like your garden design and installation completed by so we’re all on the same page. Payment for your design is taken in advance.

SPECIFICS

We’ll schedule a second visit to look at your garden in more detail. This visit usually takes around an hour, we’ll measure up during this time and take detailed photos to use when creating your design.

DESIGN

Within four weeks we’ll invite you to our design studio near Cranleigh to look at the first draft of your design, discuss plants, materials and structural elements in more detail. If you would like us to install your design, we will also look at dates for installation during this meeting. These will depend on the lead time for ordering materials, availability of plants and space in our diary.
